When I was in high school I had a Japanese pen pal who sent me a pair of kokeshi dolls as a gift; those dolls got lost during one of my moves, and I had hoped to replace them. These dolls are just as lovely as my original dolls!

These wooden dolls wear a thick coat of glossy paint, no smearing whatsoever, they are truly beautiful dolls from head to toe. Unfortunately, the glue has dried out on the black doll the hair came off as I pulled it out of the box but that is an easy fix with super glue. I would have given them a five star rating if they were made with one piece of wood. The fall out reveals three parts - body, head, and hair. Regardless, it's an expensive looking toy for my niece:)

My daughter loves Japanese culture and products. I thought these dolls would be a very nice Christmas gift for her. I bought both colors. I was concerned about the cost, but when I unpacked the dolls I knew they were well worth what I paid. They are very attractive. The paint is top quality. They are a little bigger than I envisioned them. I was very happy with the quality. And most importantly, my daughter loves them.

The top of these Kokeshi dolls had blobs of dried paint on them, and on one doll, this blobby paint was cracked. Also the edges of the same doll's hair was scuffed so the wood showed. The doll was out of its plastic bag, did someone else return it before me?

I collected Kokeshi dolls as a kid. These dolls take me back to my youth and I'm adding to my collection after all these years! I've gotten great comments on them. Good craftsmanship also.
