I bought two pairs of these goblets as a Christmas present for a friend. They are exquisite, lovely, and beautifully designed, They also come in a lined, latched, green velvet box, in which you can store them if necessary. They look much more expensive than they are. I was pleased with the purchase, and my friend was wowed by them. She has displayed them in her dining room hutch and raves about them.

We saw these when we were at the Smithsonian with our kids over Spring Break. Saw how much our daughter coveted them. They seemed too heavy to carry...too rich for her budget. They will make a nice Christmas surprise...and remind her of our fun trip to DC.

My mother had seen the goblets online and thought they were beautiful. I ordered the goblets to give her for Mother's Day, however I was quite disappointed when they arrived. Knowing that all the goblets are carved from different parts of a stone I knew my ordered ones may not be exactly as in the picture. However, when mine came in there was no color to them, it was as if they had been carved from a very pale piece of stone with none of the color as in the picture. I debated whether or not to return them and not disappoint my mother, but I was still frustrated over paying a good price for the goblets and now I was probably going to go through the hassle of having to go to the post office and return them and still have to shop for something else for Mother's Day. I decided to give them to my mother and let her decide and tell her my feelings would not be hurt. I gave her the goblets and since she did not know that I was getting her the goblets, she had actually ordered them for herself. Hers had more strie colors but were still not near as colorful as the picture. She was very grateful for me thinking of her, however in the end mine were returned and hers with a bit more color were kept. She puts tea light candles in them in the evening and they glow through so she can see more colors. So, in the end my mother was happy but every time I look at the Smithsonian picture I feel that it was a bit of false advertising; the stone they used was very vibrant with colors however the ones that came to me were just about pure pale jade color and my mother's has a bit more strie but nowhere near the brilliancy of the picture. As mentioned before it is expected that something that is carved from stone is going to have a unique flair to it, however this was like ordering a multicolored flower arrangement and receiving a pale set of monocolored flowers...I can appreciate the beauty but am disappointed that there is no flair.
