The Small Mammal House at the Smithsonian’s National Zoological Park is home to some very cute meerkats. Members of the mongoose family, these African mammals start each day by emerging from their cool underground burrows to take a sunbath. Behring Family Hall of Mammals at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History explores the diversity of some 274 mammals and how they originated and adapted to changing landscapes and environments over the last 225 million years.
