Museum Provenance

Giraffes are among some 274 mammals whose diversity is explored by The Kenneth E. Behring Family Hall of Mammals at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History. You will find a giraffe in the waterhole habitat in the Africa Gallery. The last survivor of an ancient lineage, the modern giraffe is specialized for browsing in treetops. Giraffes are the world’s tallest mammals, standing up to 19 feet tall.
