The Smithsonian welcomes orders from our worldwide customers via telephone, mail, fax and online.
For orders to Canada
All duties, taxes, tariffs and VAT charges will be the responsibility of the package recipient. These charges and fees are determined by the country’s local government and local custom agencies. The Smithsonian has no control over these charges and can not determine the amounts in advance.
Additional shipping charges may be required on large orders and on rural area addresses designated by the shipping carrier. We will contact you prior to shipping the order for authorization.
For orders to other countries
Telephone and online orders will be provided with the total cost for the order including required duties, taxes and shipping fees when the order is placed. For mail and fax orders, you will be contacted prior to the shipment with the total charge for the order. Our international shipping program provides the correct calculations for required duties and shipping costs for international shipments. All taxes and duties charged by the governments of the destination countries will be collected by the Smithsonian at the time of shipment.
All orders require a phone number and street address for delivery.
Some items may be too large or heavy to ship outside of the U.S. Some items are restricted by law for shipment outside of the U.S or by the destination country.
