Museum Provenance

This Isis Scarf is inspired by a series of symbols of Egyptian gods and goddesses in the collections of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History. Ancient Egyptians’ spirituality dominated the life and landscape of the Nile River Valley. Elegant gods and goddesses were immortalized in carvings, paintings papyrus and jewels. Their power inspired the creation of immense obelisks, palaces and the Great Pyramids.

Every Smithsonian purchase will arrive with a museum provenance card explaining how it is adapted from or inspired by an object or objects in our collection.
