Years ago I bought a cotton kimono. I loved it. While I was relaxing, wore it all the time at home or traveling. Could not find a replacement until I discovered the Yukata in the Smithsonian Catalog. So I ordered it. When I received it, there was an immediate reaction of disappointment. First and obvious was the color. In the catalog, the floral design is definitely a dark pink, not red. The catalog written description is crimson peonies, but the color one views in the catalog picture is pink. The robe is too long and there are no belt loops. So I guess I will be reconstructing the Yukata to fit.

Really beautiful colours and the fit was great! The only thing I can say that was a bit disappointing was that the material was not as soft as I would have liked it to be but I'm hoping it softens up a bit after washing.

the heavy printing of the pattern made it stiff & caused the inside to be cheap looking. not the soft cotton quality of other Japanese robes I have had before. I returned it.

I buy one of these each time Smithsonian offers a new print. This is my summer choice for comfort around the house. This print has some shiny gold in it so it is really pretty with the pink flowers against the black background

I love the fact that it's extra long - - most Japanese kimonos are too short to fit Americans. The fabric is beautiful, but be aware that it's not the pink color in the photo: it's actually red on a black ground, w/ gold highlighting. Really lovely.
