They are absolutely unique! The idea of using semi-precious stone for oceans and continents make this a different and interesting simple gift to give. I was very pleased with the look of the globes, however, 2 of them were somewhat stiff and would not spin initially. They did loosen up after 'working' them a bit. This raised some concern as to whether they will be able to stand up to regular use. Since this is a new purchase, only time and use will tell.

My mother has always wanted one of those big gemstone globes. Since I can't afford one of those, I got her the keychain version. She loved it! It is the perfect miniaturized version. I have nothing negative to say. It made the perfect little gift for Mother's Day.
