Museum Provenance

This Thai Bark Mango Vase is inspired by some of the handcrafted Thai objects in the collections of the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, which features both permanent and temporary exhibitions of Asian art from ancient times to the present. Arthur M. Sackler donated over 1,000 art objects, including a significant collection of hanging Chinese scrolls.

Every Smithsonian purchase will arrive with a museum provenance card explaining how it is adapted from or inspired by an object or objects in our collection.

I liked this vase, and especially that it had a glass insert, which gives the vase versatility. My only disappointment was that the vase was orange instead of the vibrant red that was shown in both the catalog and online. I ordered it mainly for the color and was disappointed, but the people I gifted it to decided to keep the vase anyway.
