First made by Kiji-shi (wood artisans) during the Edo Period (1603-1867), it is believed these highly stylized wooden Kokeshi dolls were crafted as souvenirs for visitors of the hot springs in north-eastern Japan. Now considered an art form, these traditional interpretations wear colorful kimonos. Wood with lacquer finishes. Each sold separately.
