I was very disappointed. The necklace fell apart as soon as I lifted it from the plastic bag. Poor workmanship. The findings separated from the stones, luckily they were knotted so the gems stayed intact. The nuggets looked cracked and chipped. There were sharp edges, a sign that they were chipped. Beautiful color but poor workmanship, not representative of Smithsonian products.

Regrettably, this was one of the few pieces I have ever returned to the Smithsonian. The necklace looked lovely on; however, the clasp, although "unique", looked kind of cheap and tinny. Most importantly, however was the quality of the assembly. The stones are strung on multiple strands of thread, but each appears to be a thin common thread; there are knots betwwen the stones but at the end piece, mine was already unraveling. Even though the neckalce was on sale, I did not want to go to the expense of having it professionally restrung, so sent it back.
