Hi,
I recently discovered the exhibit on the Jefferson Bible - which included an electronic version. Then I received my recent order for the Jefferson Bible and DVD. The ad for it (from your website) reads:
"The Jefferson Bible, Smithsonian Edition, a full-color facsimile created from high-resolution digital photographs of recently conserved and rebound pages, includes all four languages and Jefferson's handwritten notes. No other edition so clearly provides a window into the mind of its maker."

This led me to believe that the "high-resolution digital photographs" would be the same as what was in the exhibit and would be on the DVD - but they are nowhere to be found. I had imagined that maybe an OCR version might also be there, with maybe even a pre-constructed index to help in searching for specific phrases (e.g., "love thy neighbor"). If these exist, maybe y'all might agree that I paid for a copy and maybe might even let me have them if I ask nicely and say "pretty please"?

And yes, I love what came and appreciate all that y'all have done to make this available.

Do you happen to know, are there organized gatherings of folks who would like to discuss this with other like-minded people? If so, hints, please.

This book is as insightful as it can be into the personal faith of Thomas Jefferson.

The book's designer, TJ himself, was clearly a fastidious genius, and the Smithsonian's reproduction is excellent in every important detail, including a fold-out map, a piece of text pasted into one page, and gilded designs on the front and back, on the narrow edges of the covers, and on the perimeter inside the covers. Fortunately, the reproduction doesn't have the delicate and warped pages of the original, which is on exhibit at the museum.

A removable, transparent, plastic book jacket tops the reproduction with a photo of the book's compiler (TJ) and information about the Smithsonian reproduction.

As a pastor and American history buff who was aware of Jefferson's Deist leanings, I was delighted to hear about the upcoming program on Jefferson's "Secret" bible. Unfortunately, my television programming doesn't include the Smithsonian Channel, so I wasn't able to watch the show. Imagine my delight when I visited the Store online and found not only a DVD of the program, but a companion replica of the Bible itself, with reproductions of the pages carefully cut and pasted by Jefferson himself. While they are a tad difficult to read as they are true reproductions, it is a fascinating look into the thoughts and beliefs of one of our founding fathers.

How exciting to read the words chosen by Thomas Jefferson from the Bible to relay his understanding of our Christian heritage. He reaches to the heart of Jesus' teachings and displays them for us to see, assimilate, understand, and attempt to live by.
I purchased one for myself and plan to give one to each of my four children.

As one who has long been interested in Thomas Jefferson, I find his approach to religion fascinating. His personal editing of Christian teaching may illuminate or possibly offend, but it will never cease to make one think. As for the quality of the reproduction, it is excellent, complete with his inserted fold-outs and pasted-in notes -- if Jefferson only had Post-Its available. The historical overview provided as a preface to Jefferson's work is extremely effective in setting the context of the time in which he lived and what influenced his thinking.

As a birthday gift for my father, who is retired Air Force, this was perfect. He is devout to his faith and to his country, and this set makes connections to both of those very important facets of his life. There is nothing like an insightful and even somewhat controversial book for keeping the blood flowing and the synapses firing!

For anyone interested in the philosophy of Thomas Jefferson or his personal religious views, this facsimile volume of his edited New Testament and the companion DVD describing the assembly and restoration of the original are priceless additions to your personal library. As a pastor and teacher I have read it, described it and shown it to audiences whose members range in age from grade school through retirement. It helps me understand and describe Mr. Jefferson's very private theology as the foundation for his writings and statements on religion in the public sphere.
