Thirty-five pairings of evocative poems and exquisite artwork are organized by season in Haiku: Japanese Art and Poetry to quietly capture the essence of haiku: nature and its fleeting beauty. Rendered in English with Japanese calligraphies and transliterations, the graceful haiku were composed by renowned Japanese haiku masters of the last four centuries. Images in Haiku: Japanese Art and Poetry include 18th and 19th century paintings and ukiyo-e prints and 20th-century shin hanga woodcuts.  Hardcover, 80 pages; 35 color reproductions. 8" x 8"
