Vermonter Wilson A. Bentley, also known as the snowflake man, was a self-educated farmer whose lifelong fascination with snowflakes turned a whimsical pursuit into a scientific breakthrough. The Smithsonian Archives include more than 500 photographs of Bentley’s snowflakes. Our snowflake inspired gifts depict several snowflake forms. Holiday themed apparel is in our costume collection, National Museum of American History, Behring Center.

Every Smithsonian purchase will arrive with a museum provenance card explaining how it is adapted from or inspired by an object or objects in our collection.

This is a great light weight but warm jacket for cool days. It also has a nice hand feel. The sleeves run a bit long but not enough to be a real problem.
