Summon Your Inner Guinevere. Parlez-vous Renaissance romance? Double quatrefoil scrolls, set with eight honey amber cabochons, are a modern translation of an Old World motif with this Amber Quatrefoil Jewelry. Finely crafted by Polish artisans, the pendant is suspended from an Italian-made sterling silver snake chain. Forty-eight amber cabochons stud the bracelet. The quatrefoil design is repeated in the ring and the clip or pierced earrings. Oxidized sterling silver settings. Lobster clasps.

Commissioned by Prussia’s Frederick I, presented to Peter the Great and installed by Catherine the Great in her summer palace, the “Amber Room” was a testament to the value placed upon this prized Baltic gem. Although purportedly destroyed during World War II, no one knows for sure what happened to the original Amber Room. The Smithsonian’s beautiful amber collection at the National Museum of Natural History and the products on these pages showcase the trenslucent beauty of Baltic amber and the skill of the Polish artisans who transform it.
Every Smithsonian purchase will arrive with a museum provenance card explaining how it is adapted from or inspired by an object or objects in our collection.
